My education and professional life have been centered around words and helping people with words.
I have a doctorate in Comparative Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and taught English, writing, and humanities at Boston University, the Johns Hopkins University, and at the State University of New York at Cortland.
I created an English composition program for professional students and was responsible for integrating writing instruction into a range of technical degrees.
I have published scholarly articles, written successful grants, and served as a grant reviewer for the National Endowment for the Humanities.
I also coordinated the writing of institutional reports in the areas of assessment and planning.
I have earned the Poynter ACES Certificate in Editing and taken course work in editing and in developmental editing of nonfiction and academic writing.
I have over twenty years’ experience in large-scale event planning including script and speech writing.
I’ve served on community boards including the Cortland College Daycare Center and am currently on the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities of Cortland County and do pro-bono editorial work for them and other nonprofits in my area.
